Interview with Hana Pesut
People, Meet People. This week we are pleased to introduce Hana Pesut aka. Sincerely Hana, a jack of all trades. Not only is she known globally for her Switcheroo photography project, she also works as a digital marketer and DJ. Originally from Whistler, BC, Hana now calls Vancouver, BC home. Recently we met up with Hana at her photography studio to learn a little bit more about her and her work.
How did the name Sincerely Hana come about?
A loooong time ago I DJ’d with 2 friends and when we first started we needed to come up with a “DJ name” so we sent an email with some ideas to a bunch of friends and signed it “Sincerely Dani, Hana & Justine” and a few people responded saying that we should just use that, so we did. Eventually, Justine went back to school and Dani moved to New York so then it was just Sincerely Hana.
What are you most passionate about?
How do you connect with the people around you?
Over food, hopefully tacos.
What makes you unique?
I still love shooting film and not many people know this, but all of the images from my switcheroo project were shot on medium format film.
When do you find you are most productive?
Either after meeting someone inspiring or going somewhere inspiring.
What is the craziest opportunity you have received through your Switcheroo book?
Just a few weeks ago I went to New York to shoot switcheroos for Vogue.
How do you approach the creative process of your work?
I think it varies depending on what I’m working on but mostly I try not to over think things and always keep an open mind, especially when I’m collaborating on a project.
Where do you meet the most like minded people?
In the most unusual places.
How did you get into photography?
I always carried a camera around as a kid but it wasn’t until a friend lent me her Hasselblad that I really fell in love and started to take photography more seriously.
